HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR GPA AT THE UNIVERSITY

Most student are finding it difficult to calculate their GPA at the University level whether they are progressing or retrogressing. It will be better to kwon how your performance after a successfully every semester examination by determining your progress

This article will guide you to know how best to calculate your semester and academic year GPA

HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR GPA AT THE UNIVERSITY

For a student offering seven programs with 3 credits hours easy

for example

COMMUNICATION SKILLS …………………A

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION………………B

INTRODUCTION TO ICT…………………….C+

GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION……………….B+

ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS I…………….B

BUILDING CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS….D

BUILDING SCIENCE………………………………..A

 

NOTE: These is the figure for each score get

A………………………………………….12.0

B+…………………………………………10.5

B…………………………………………….9

C+…………………………………………..7.5

C……………………………………………6

So if u want to calculate your GPA for the Semester, you will add the number of grade corresponding figure to it and divide it by the total credits for the particular semester

12+9+7.5+10.5+9+3+12=63

63/21=3

So for this particular student with these example, His or Her semester GPA is 3 and he or she will fall in Second Class Upper Division.

 

HOW TO CALCULATE FOR ACADEMIC YEAR GPA

If it was overall academic year that you want to know, you will add each semester GPA and divide it by the number of semesters you are done with it.

 

HERE IS THE GPA WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE CLASSES

 

GPA CLASS
4.000 – 3.500 FIRST CLASS
3.499 – 3.000 SECOND CLASS UPPER
2.999 – 2.500 SECOND CLASS LOWER
2.499 – 2.000 THIRD CLASS
1.999 – 1.000 PASS
0.99…………….. FAIL
