Breaking News: NTC Officially Establishes Passing Threshold for the 2023 Licensure Exam
A prominent member of the National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially announced the confirmed passing score for the 2023 teacher licensure exam. With the introduction of the Ghana Teacher Licensure examination in the country, the NTC, entrusted with the responsibility of organizing and overseeing these exams, has established the pass mark at 50%.
For over three years now, the 50% passing requirement for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination has remained unchanged. Newly trained teachers, preparing to embark on their teaching careers, are required to successfully complete their licensure exams by achieving a 50% passing score. Only after meeting this criterion can they be officially authorized by the National Teaching Council (NTC) to be deployed and teach in schools throughout the nation.

The 2023 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examinations have introduced a completely revamped format. This new structure and content departure from the traditional one, which had been in place for approximately three years. In the previous format, the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination focused on three primary areas: Essential Skills, Numeracy, and Literacy.
However, the 2023 iteration of the Ghana Teacher Licensure examination featured three distinct core courses. The first course, reminiscent of the traditional format, encompassed Essential Skills, Numeracy, and Literacy, now referred to as General Professional Knowledge. The second course delved into Pedagogy, while the final course concentrated on specialized fields.
These 2023 teacher licensure exams commenced on September 13, 2023, and concluded on September 15, 2023. Candidates were duly informed that the passing threshold for these exams remains at 50%, consistent with the traditional requirement.
