PROGRAMMES THAT ACCEPT D7 AND E8

The Bachelor of Science Agriculture Education Programme is basically a general agriculture-centered programme designed to equip students to teach the core subjects in general agriculture and to undertake any practices or services that involve the salient knowledge, skills and attitudes of general agriculture.

Target Group

The programme is intended for:

•      SSSCE/WAEC Certificate Holders

•      Agriculture/Forestry Certificate holders

•      All who want to train in the field of Agriculture?

Mode of study:
Regular/Full Time

Entry Requirement:

SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate Holders

  1. SSSCE Candidates
  1.        Must have Six (6) credit passes (A-D) comprising three (3) Core Subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), plus
  2. at least a credit pass in Chemistry and
  3. A credit pass in any two (2) of the following electives: Physics, Biology, General Agriculture, Animal Husbandry OR Horticulture OR Forestry, Elective Mathematics.
  4. WASSCE Candidates
  1. Must have Six (6) credit passes (A1-C6) comprising three (3) Core Subjects, including, English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus
  2. at least a credit (A1-C6) in Chemistry and
  3. credit passes in any two (2) of the following electives: Physics, Biology, General Agriculture, Animal Husbandry OR Horticulture OR Forestry, Elective Mathematics

C)Mature Applicants

  1. Must be at least 25 years by 1st August of year one wants to apply.
  2. Must hold:

(a) Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ OR

(b) SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate OR a Certificate of Professional training from a

recognized institution.

  1. Must pass the UEW Entrance Examination.

D)Diploma Candidates

  1. Must possess a Higher National Diploma (at least Second Class Lower) or its equivalent in a relevant subject from a recognized institution.
  2. Must pass an interview.

 E. General Certificate of Education, Advanced Level (GCE “A” Level)

Five (5) credit passes at GCE “O” Level including English Language and Mathematics in addition to  two (2) “A” Level passes other than General Paper in the following: Physics, Chemistry, Biology OR Agricultural Science, Mathematics.

B. SC. (ACCOUNTING EDUCATION)

Programme Description

The programme is for applicants who intend to train as teachers of business education with specialization in Accounting. It is designed to equip students with knowledge and pedagogy in Accounting.

Target Group

The programme is intended for:

•      SHS Certificate Holders HND, RSA, DBS, AB and GB Certificate Holders

•      School Certificate/GCE Holders

  • West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)

PROGRAMMES THAT ACCEPT D7 AND E8

Candidates must have at least grade C6 in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics (Core), Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three (3) elective subjects selected from: Financial Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Cost Accounting and Elective Mathematics.

  • Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)

Candidates must have at least grade ‘D’ in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics (Core), Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three (3) Elective subjects selected from:

Financial Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Cost Accounting and Elective Mathematics.

  • General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level

Candidates must have passes in three (3) subjects (at least one of the passes should be grade ‘D’.In addition, the applicant must have had credit passes (at least grade ‘6’ in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English, Mathematics and a Science subject.

  • General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)

Candidates must have at least grade ‘D’ in three core subjects (English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and three other subjects selected from:

Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Commerce, Economics, Business Law, Marketing and Office Practice

  • Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE)

Candidates must have passes in three (3) subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade ‘D’).In addition, the applicant must have had credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE).Applicants in this category will attend an interview before their placement at the appropriate level.

  • Higher National Diploma (HND)
  • Candidates must have a minimum of Second Class Lower (Accounting Studies).

Mature Applicants

  • be at least 25 years old by 1st August of the academic year one wants to enroll;
  • show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary
  • proof of birth date which is at least 5 years old at the time of application;
  • pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examination conducted by UEW.

B. Ed. (Special Education)

  • Programme Description

  • The Special Education Programme seeks to equip students with practical Knowledge and skills to enable students of the programme:
  • Teach pupils and students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in special and Inclusive schools.
  • •      Provide services to pupils and students with SEN in Inclusive Educational Settings
  • •      Assess children and adults to see if they have SEN.
  • •      Provide rehabilitation services to people with Disabilities
  • Train others to become professionals in sign language interpretation,
  • •      Braille writing, Braille reading and Braille transcription.

Programme Description

The Early Childhood Programme aims at:

  • Enabling the Early Childhood Educator to know the meaning, nature, principles and          foundations of Early Childhood Education.
  • Enabling Early childhood educators understand the roles and functions of Early
  • Childhood teachers in the context of the emerging trends in child development.
  • Exposing trainees to the techniques of handling specific Early Childhood subjects.

BSC INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

Programme Description

The ICT Education (ICTE) programme is designed to improve standards in the development and applications of ICT in all aspects of the educational system and processes. In making effective choices about when and how to use ICT to improve teaching and learning, the crucial issue is how teachers can harness ICT effectively for the achievement of instructional, learning and institutional goals. The Department of ICT Education has as its over-riding goal the training of educators that are competent, knowledgeable, and skillful in the use of appropriate ICT tools and are imbued with technical and interpersonal communication skills and ethics. Pedagogical integration of ICT tools in alignment with student-led instructional strategies and infusion of ICT into the curriculum will be the focus of this programme.

Entry Requirement:

The programme is designed to attract the following categories of students:

• WASSCE, SSSCE, O’Level certificate holders,
• Professional Diploma in ICT or HND ICT holders
• Non-professional Diploma or HND Certificate Holders in ICT-related fields
• A’ Level Certificate Holders

WASSCE Candidates: Six credits, including English Language, Integrated Science and Core Mathematics. Credit Passes in WASSCE are A1 – C6 with aggregate 36 or better, SSSCE candidates: Six credits, including English Language, Integrated Science and Core Mathematics. Credit Passes in SSSCE are A – D with aggregate 24 or better. In both cases, three credit passes in English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science and three elective credit passes are required. Candidates presenting both WASSCE and SSSCE results will be treated on a case by case basis.

 

Recommended 

Post-Diploma candidates with First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) are admitted to pursue a two-year post-diploma degree programme. Candidates with Second Class (Lower Division) or better may be considered for placement in 2nd or 3rd year, depending on their performance in an entrance exam/interview.

Non-Professional Diploma and HND Holders in ICT-related fields with at least second class upper division will be placed in Level 300 or 200 depending on their performance in an entrance interview.
