The registration portal for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is now open to eligible candidates by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) in West Africa.
The registration portal for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) was opened on Monday, March 27th, 2023, as previously announced to the public. The registration deadline, according to WAEC, is on April 28th, 2023. It is crucial for candidates to ensure that their bio data is accurately captured, and that they register for the appropriate subjects.
School authorities are advised to register candidates for the correct Ghanaian Language and Basic Design Technology options. Special arrangements will be made for candidates with special educational needs, similar to the WASSCE (SC).
The 2023 BECE is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 7th, 2023 and end on Friday, August 11th, 2023. This year’s exams will be written earlier than in previous years, where the 2022 exams were conducted from October 17th to October 21st. WAEC has not yet released an official examination timetable and dates for prospective candidates.
The upcoming August 2023 BECE will mark the final exam for students who are following the old curriculum. Starting in 2024, the standard base curriculum will be implemented for the exam. To ensure fairness, the GES has instructed all head teachers not to hold back any students who were in form two at the end of the 2022 academic year, as doing so would put them at a disadvantage.
