The impact of the strike by the UCC-Senior Staff Association is being strongly felt as offices continue to remain closed.
The Senior Staff Association at the University of Cape Coast has commenced an indefinite strike, resulting in the closure of all offices on campus.
The strike was declared on Friday to protest against the University’s Management for what the senior staff describes as ill practices towards its members. The association is demanding the promotion of senior staff, career progression, appointment to senior membership, and payment of negotiated allowances, among other things.
Sandy Kumi Sinatra, the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association, disclosed that the National Labour Commission (NLC) summoned the association and the university management today to resolve the conflict.
Meanwhile, the national leadership of the association has threatened to declare a strike in solidarity with its colleagues at the University of Cape Coast if their demands are not met. The ongoing strike is expected to significantly impact the university’s activities and may result in further disruptions if a resolution is not reached promptly.
