Documents For Your Admission On Monday At Your SHS School From GES

The Ghana Education Service has instructed all students to submit the necessary documents for their Senior High School admission on Monday.

The Ghana Education Service has released the 2023 SHS Placement for 2022 BECE graduates, with a total of 538,399 candidates placed in different senior high schools and TVET institutions across the country. As per the updated academic calendar provided by the GES, all 2022 BECE graduates who have been placed in senior high schools are required to report to their designated schools on Monday, 20th February, 2023 to initiate the registration process. In order for the admission process to begin, the GES has specified that students must submit the following documents to the SHS they have been placed in:

Placement form

Enrollment form: This must be completely filled with accurate details of the student. The section for the head teacher of the previous Junior High School or a pastor to fill must also be completed before submitting to the SHS. The name of the SHS/TVET head teacher should be left blank.
BECE Results/Certificate
Passport Size Picture: This can be attached to the placement form.
Students should have knowledge of the digital address of their houses, hometown, place of birth, information about guardians or parents, and their medical conditions.

Failure to submit any of the above-listed documents on the day of admission may result in the school’s inability to admit the student. It is important to note that the registration process is completely free of charge.

The Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service have issued a warning to the public against engaging with individuals who promise to alter the school placement of BECE graduates. School placement into Senior High Schools is scheduled to be released in February, and BECE graduates are advised to attend the SHS they have been placed in.

The school placement is based on the aggregate each student obtained in their BECE results. The director, during a press conference on Wednesday, announced that the 2023 school placement had been released. Out of the 547,329 registered candidates, 538,399 qualified for placement. This implies that 8,930 candidates did not receive placement in any senior high school or TVET institution in the country. These candidates are likely to be those who obtained grade 9 in English or Mathematics, or in most subjects.

As a result, these students cannot begin their secondary education this year. If they wish to access free SHS, they will have to retake the BECE as private candidates, excel, and gain admission in 2024.
