The Ghana Education Service (GES) is gearing up to recruit approximately 24,000 teachers in 2024 for deployment to public basic schools and secondary institutions, as disclosed by Kofi Asare, the Executive Director of Africa Education Watch.
According to Asare, GES is actively working to hire around 24,000 teachers in 2024 to bolster the teaching workforce in public basic schools and SHS/TVET institutions nationwide. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to address the issue of inadequate staff in schools and enhance the quality of education in Ghana. The additional teachers are expected to contribute to reducing the teacher-to-student ratio, creating a more conducive learning environment, and improving the overall education sector.
As the Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare emphasized the significance of adequate staffing for the effective delivery of education. He highlighted that this recruitment drive aligns with the government’s commitment to providing quality education and ensuring that schools have the necessary human resources to meet the needs of students.
Upon initiating the recruitment process, the Ghana Education Service will call for applications from qualified trained teachers who hold a Bachelor’s in Education certificate or a Diploma in Basic Education Certificate for consideration.
